1935 Packard V-12 1207 Sedan Barn Find
Now this 1935 Packard V-12 1207 Sedan Barn Find I would love to have but, probably not for the reasons you may think 😕 More because I have always wanted a car with all Suicide Doors 🙂
Aside from the Suicide Doors I am also a big fan of the full running boards and spare tires in the front fenders look.
So aside from this car having a V12 which is a big plus on most peoples scale, notice how smooth this engines runs after he i done rebuilding the carburetor. I don’t know how old many of the readers of this post are but, I do remember decades ago watching a cartoon of the latest cars. One of the bragging points was the ability to balance a nickel on an idling engine because it was so silky smooth 🙂
This engine would seem to be one of those kinds of engines. Matter of fact a Packards name always stood for excellence and this may very well have been one of the engines that started this legend?
It then does something else that I like, it runs so dead quiet that you cannot even tell if the car is running. I have a Mercedes 350SL that is close to this. It has stalled out on me at a car cruise and I didn’t even know it until I hit the throttle and it didn’t take off out of the stop light.
This car with it’s V12 would also seem to be the same. They also didn’t show that much on the rebuild that they have done to the car. It seemed to work fine with just a carb rebuild? I know plenty of older cars with Drum brakes that need to be completely rebuilt after sitting for not even half the time that this car sat. However, it seemed to drive perfect and make pretty good speed in traffic on what would seem to still be an original car so who knows. Were cars just built that well back then 😕
