Abandoned Volkswagen 23 Window Deluxe Samba

This Abandoned Volkswagen 23 Window Deluxe Samba seems to have been sitting for more than a few decades in New Mexico. Yes New Mexico so you know they shouldn’t be any rust to speak of?

So to give you an idea about the worth of a VW like this, the person that chose to rescue it came from over 1100 miles to pick it up 😯 The new owner contacted the owner of this Deluxe 23 Window Sanmba to make plans to drive down to pick it up. Of course he had the forethought to capture it’s rescue on video for many to be jealous of.

Well who ever was the person that wanted to rescue this Volkswagen Samba really must like Busses. I am not the biggest fan of VW Busses way back in the day even thought my family had one. We are talking early 80’s and it wasn’t an old one like this. No it was a late model one that basically had a Porsche 914 engine in it and no it wasn’t fast at all. It did have a strange deal where even if the key is not in the ignition the radio still worked. If I remember correctly7 all the Volkswagens did that for some reason 😕

Still wonder why they did that as they weren’t known for having the strongest charging systems or always starting up. Almost anyone you talk to that is old enough to remember the days when you saw multiple Volkswagens daily would remember push stating one of them.

Anyway I do wonder what was going through the new owners head when he heard about Deluxe Samba Bus over 1000 miles away from his home. He must have a real love for large Volkswagens as I do not but hey what ever floats his boat. It’s a hell of a lot better than if he was a Hyundai collector or something 😛
