Is this 1957 Mercedes 190SL a joke

It’s not to far from my work either to check out.

So when I saw this this I thought Is this 1957 Mercedes 190SL a joke on craigslist or what? Yes I know what they are worth when they are restored but, this is so far from that to not even be funny.

This is the Craigslist Add I saw for the remains of a 1957 Mercedes 190SL
CL Add for 190SL

Here is the $15000 Craigslist Add for whats left of this 1957 Mercedes 190SL pretty much.

Now I know they are a fairly pricey car when they are either a correct restoration or the even rarer original Survivor? This EBAY 1957 190SL has an outrageous price even though it doesn’t seem to be that incredible a car to me.

Seeing as how this model car was only a 4 cylinder with 2 carburetors it wasn’t any sort of powerhouse compared to it’s 300SL bigger brother. It did have double wishbone suspension making it a handling car for back in it’s day.

I had a restored 1973 450SL at one point in time. It was impossible to get anyone to work on it or deal with it’s issues but, I eventually sold it on Craigslist.

This 1957 Mercedes 190SL sitting at the price it’s at must be imagining that someone is going to have a top notch shop rebuild what’s left of it. All that is really left are the frame and engine block really to match the serial numbers to.
Then everything else will have to be hand fabricated as replacement parts are not going to be available in any way shape or form for the most part. I know of a shop named “Foreign Specialties” that restored cars like this. I saw a 300SL at the shop along with a XKE being piece by piece restored back in the early 1990’s but, nothing to the extent of this burned out 190SL chassis that I still can’t believe what they are asking for.
